Wendy has been honoured to work collaboratively with K’omoks First Nation on many projects, and appreciates the richness and contributions of urban Indigenous community members.
- Wendy has been committed to action toward reconciliation. The city has focussed on building relationships with KFN and working collaboratively on shared interests.
- Wendy introduced a resolution to work with K’omoks First Nation and the arts community to incorporate Indigenous art into the 6th St bridge project design.
- Project Watershed lead the restoration work of a decommissioned industrial site, in partnership with K’omoks First Nation and the City of Courtenay. The Kus kus sum project was recently completed, and the site rightfully returned to K’omoks First Nation.
- The city is a partner on the regional reconciliation advisory table, and is developing a Reconciliation framework.
